Instead of traditional red, green and brown, we gave this gingerbread party a much softer color palette:
bubblegum + ballet pink + soft mint + cream + gingerbread brown + tiny touches of red + gold
Then we added bows everywhere.
Big satin bows on chairs. Little gingham bows tucked into decorations. Bows on the Christmas tree. Bows on gingerbread girls. Bows tied around jars and baskets.

Instead of sending everyone home with a generic party favor, the girls create an ornament they actually want to keep.
Set out clear fillable ornaments plus little gingerbread-shaped ornament blanks and let them choose from:

alphabet beads
pom-poms
pearls
sequins
ribbon
miniature candy pieces
gingerbread embellishments.
They can spell their name inside a clear ornament or decorate a gingerbread girl with a tiny personalized bead necklace.
You can even add a little photo to a gingerbread-house ornament.
The finished ornaments become part craft, part party favor and part Christmas keepsake.

Instead of turning this into an enormous dessert buffet, we kept our kids' hot cocoa bar cozy and simple.

Since the girls are already surrounded by candy and cocoa, I would keep the rest of the menu extremely simple.

You do not need a giant themed dessert table on top of everything else.
The gingerbread houses already are the dessert table.
